Leaky Gut
Do you have a leaky gut?
Your gut is the sponge that absorbs all your nutrients and filters all the toxins and bacteria. When you have a “Leaky Gut” you are basically unable to able to capture the nutrients/vitamins/minerals that are essential for your wellbeing at the same time unable to keep a lot of the toxins out.

WHAT is leaky GUT?
Leaky gut syndrome is like having tiny holes in the walls of your intestines. Imagine your intestines as a big net that catches the good stuff from your food, like vitamins and nutrients, and lets them into your body. Normally, the net is really tight, so only the good stuff gets through.
But if you have leaky gut, the net gets some holes in it, and things that shouldn’t get through, like bacteria and toxins, can sneak into your body. This can make your immune system go a little crazy, causing inflammation and making you feel sick. People might get stomach aches, feel tired, or have allergies.
Causes of Leak Gut
Poor Diet: Eating a lot of processed foods, sugary snacks, and foods high in unhealthy fats can harm your gut. These foods can cause inflammation and damage the gut lining. Think about the percentage of processed foods we eat now days. Its everywhere.
• Chronic Stress: Stress affects your body in many ways, including your gut. It can weaken the gut barrier and make it more permeable, meaning stuff that shouldn’t get through can sneak in.
• Infections: Some infections, particularly those that affect the gut, can damage the gut lining. This includes infections caused by bacteria, viruses, and parasites.
• Toxins: Alcohol, smoking, drugs all effect the mucosa of your gut
• Food Sensitivities: Some people are sensitive to certain foods, like gluten or dairy. Eating these foods can cause inflammation in the gut and damage the gut lining over time.
• Imbalance in Gut Bacteria: Your gut is home to trillions of bacteria, both good and bad. When the bad bacteria outnumber the good ones, it can cause inflammation and damage the gut lining. This imbalance is known as dysbiosis.
• Lack of Fiber: Fiber is important for a healthy gut. It feeds the good bacteria and helps keep the gut lining strong. A diet low in fiber can contribute to leaky gut.
• Chronic Diseases: Conditions like diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and inflammatory bowel diseases (like Crohn’s disease) can increase the risk of developing a leaky gut.
• Chronic or recurrent antibiotic use: this is a big one- antibiotics tend to wreak havoc on our microbiome and gut lining. Some more than others. With the recent COVID infections, antibiotic use has been very prevalent. Yes covid is a virus but many protocols treat with antibiotics to deal with post viral bacterial infections and concomitant bacterial infections.

There is Hope!
We will go over how to break the cycle and get your life and health back on track to replete your lost vitamins/minerals and electrolytes. Bypassing the gut with certain IV cocktails can rebuild reserves that have been severely depleted and allow your body time to heal itself
Stay tuned for next weeks post!
