Why Early Autism Support Matters in Spring, The Woodlands & Conroe
Autism spectrum disorder is common and increasingly recognized. Current national estimates show that roughly
1 in 31 U.S. children meets criteria for ASD, and Texas data suggest our state may have an even
higher prevalence than the national average. Families in Spring, The Woodlands, and Conroe often face long wait-lists
for evaluations — making timely support essential.
Our clinic focuses on:
- Clarifying diagnosis and co-occurring conditions (ADHD, anxiety, depression, sleep issues, GI concerns).
- Building a personalized behavioral and medication plan that fits your child and family.
- Partnering with schools and therapists in Spring ISD, Conroe ISD, Klein ISD and surrounding districts.
Our Approach to Autism Care: Compassionate, Practical & Collaborative
Every autistic person is unique — from sensory needs to communication style, learning patterns, and emotional regulation.
Our goal is not to “change who they are,” but to support their strengths and reduce barriers to daily life.
- Internal Medicine – addressing sleep, GI issues, headaches, nutrition, obesity, seizures, and more.
- Psychiatry – managing emotional regulation, anxiety, ADHD, irritability, mood, and sleep.
- Integrated support – sensory strategies, routines, coping skills, and family guidance.
We collaborate with ABA, OT, speech therapy, and school teams to ensure a consistent, effective plan.
Autism Behavioral Support Services
While we are not an ABA center, we provide medical and behavioral support that enhances ongoing therapy services.
- Assisting with functional behavior planning
- Communication support (spoken language, AAC, and visual supports)
- Parent coaching for routines, transitions, and challenging behaviors
- School collaboration (IEP, 504, testing accommodations, sensory breaks)
- Safety planning for meltdowns, self-injury, aggression, or elopement
- Screening for co-occurring mental health conditions with coordinated treatment:
Medication Management for Autism-Related Symptoms
Medications do not treat autism itself — but they can help with specific symptoms that impact safety, learning,
sleep, or emotional well-being.
- Irritability, aggression, or self-injury
- Severe meltdowns impacting daily function
- ADHD symptoms (inattention, impulsivity, hyperactivity)
- Anxiety, OCD-like symptoms, or social fears
- Sleep disturbance
- Mood disorders in adolescents and adults
We start with the lowest effective dose, monitor closely, and tailor treatment based on growth, metabolism, response,
and safety.
Integrated Medical & Psychiatric Care for Autistic Patients
Many autistic individuals have co-occurring medical needs. At Vitality Medical Clinic, internal medicine and psychiatry work
together to ensure no symptoms are dismissed as “behavior.”
- GI issues, feeding challenges, and constipation
- Sleep disturbances and circadian rhythm concerns
- Seizures or other neurological disorders
- Hormonal issues, obesity, and metabolic changes
- Chronic medical conditions needing coordinated care
We can also serve as your child’s or adult family member’s
primary care provider, creating a
single home for both medical and mental health needs.

Autism (ASD) Care – Frequently Asked Questions
Do you diagnose autism or only manage medications?
We provide diagnostic evaluations, second opinions, and ongoing management. Some patients benefit from full
neuropsychological testing, while others do not. We will guide you through whether outside testing is necessary.
What ages do you treat?
We see children, teens, and adults, including those transitioning from pediatric to adult care and autistic adults who have never been formally diagnosed.
Is medication always necessary for autism?
No. Medication is used only when symptoms significantly impair functioning or safety. Many families choose behavioral
strategies alone or in combination with medication. We always explain risks, benefits, and alternatives.
Do you coordinate with ABA, OT, speech, and schools?
Yes. We regularly provide school letters, IEP recommendations, 504 support, sensory accommodations, and direct coordination
with ABA, occupational therapy, and speech therapy when releases are signed.
